For an easy reference point by which to re-balance your tensions do the following:
Sew with your machine and adjust the tensions so that they give you a balanced stitch.
Look at the pictures "Example 1" and "Example 2." If the tension knobs look like the knobs in the example pictures when a balanced stitch has been achieved, then stretch the top and/or intermittent tension cone springs until the knob is flush with the end of the shaft (as seen in the "normal tension" pictures).
Conversely, if the knobs are out from the shaft then collapse the cone spring.
The "normal tension" should be when the face of the knob is flush with the end of the shaft. |
